Immersive experiences for communication and stakeholder engagement for North Sea Ecology 

eXtended Reality (XR), including virtual and mixed reality, is transforming how we communicate, make decisions, and engage with stakeholders. This project investigates which design approaches make XR applications more effective for raising awareness and understanding of planetary challenges; Particularly the role of the North Sea in the transition to sustainable energy sources. 

As a shared research and education facility at Wageningen University, WANDER is developing a comprehensive platform to monitor user behaviour and emotional responses during XR experiences. Insights from this platform will help assess and compare the effectiveness of different design approaches. Testing and iterating on designs for XR experiences is essential to ensure they are intuitive and accessible. This is especially important when engaging diverse populations, stakeholders, and citizens.
